Kazakh woman paints chests for Western stars

Hollywood stars and famous art collectors purchase works made by Kazakh woman Aneilya Ibraimova. She paints chests. The artist mostly depicts elements of flora and fauna on them. Ibraimova makes up each sketch herself.

“It’s always different. There are customers who know what they want and, for example, show pictures of their pets. And there are those who simply want to trust the artists. In that case, we offer them our ideas. We work on Photoshop and do a lot of sketches. And then we present the client a few options so that he could pick the ones he likes the most. And after it’s all settled, we start personalization on the chests,” Ibraimova said.

Ibraimova says that it is very difficult to paint the chests, because it is meticulous work, which requires pinpoint accuracy. Because of the uneven surface of the chests, she has to put a lot of effort into getting an accurate and beautiful drawing. The artist also shared her feelings about one of her favorite works.

“This was one of my favorite projects. I created this little sketch for Louis Vuitton’s mascot. I visited the Victoria and Albert Museum when there was an exhibition of Queen Victoria’s jewellery and the crown. I was so impressed that I wanted to draw the same crown on our mascot. I also added the British flag,” the artist shared.

Despite working for a French fashion house, Aneilya develops her own art. She specializes in photorealism and prefers to paint portraits of people. She has already held several solo exhibitions in London. In the future, Ibraimova wants to present her works in Kazakhstan as well.
