Astana hosts Connected-2024 international conference

Around 1,500 delegates from more than 20 countries, including researchers, futurists, economists, public and government figures, leaders in innovation and technology, as well as representatives of global media, have gathered in the Kazakh capital to discuss and forecast the vision of the future. Their collaboration is part of the Connected-2024 international conference. Over the course of two days, experts will share their views on ways to achieve global harmony and analyze current challenges.

«If one looks back within time you can see that new technologies introduce new hierarchies and new wealth. The way in which we trade can be helpful for some people but not for others, so there are lots of things you can learn about the past and the Silk Road book is all about these networks. So, we’ve just been talking at a panel about artificial intelligence and the ways in which that is going to change our world for the better but also the things we need to be thinking about to make it safe. What’s great about events like this, you have a change to listen to some of the most interesting speakers, most interesting thinkers,» shared Peter Frankopan, Professor at the University of Oxford.

One of the main topics of the conference is the development of human capital through educational collaborations. For instance, 23 leading global universities have already started operating in Kazakhstan, and double degree programs are also expanding. Agreements are already in place between Pavlodar Alkei Margulan Pedagogical University and Tokat Gaziosmanpasa University in Türkiye, as well as between Korkyt Ata Kyzylorda University and the Moscow Aviation Institute. The latter partnership will enable the training of skilled professionals and facilitate joint scientific research in the fields of artificial intelligence and space technologies.

«Graduates will receive diplomas from both Kyzylorda University and the Moscow Aviation Institute, qualifying them to work in various fields, including IT, agriculture, and industrial production. They will be highly skilled professionals capable of working in almost any sector. Of course, they will be able to undergo practical training, studying their third course in Moscow at our laboratory facilities and then upon return the training will take place at enterprises in the Kyzylorda region,» noted Dmitry Kozorez, Vice-rector at the Moscow Aviation Institute.
