Prime Minister Olzhas
Bektenov inspected the implementation of the President’s instructions on
upgrading checkpoints along the border with the Kyrgyz Republic. He visited the
Kordai and Karasu automobile crossings to review reconstruction results and
discuss further development plans. At the Kordai checkpoint, measures taken
have quadrupled passenger traffic and nearly tripled vehicle throughput. Modern
technologies have been introduced to speed up procedures and enhance safety,
including an inspection and screening system that enables contactless cargo
scanning without unloading. Work has also begun on modernizing the Karasu
checkpoint, which will boost capacity from 700 to over 2,000 vehicles per day.
Bektenov stressed that reconstruction plays a key role in the development of
the transport and logistics sector and cross-border cooperation, instructing
that all works be completed on time and to high quality standards.
«Today, to increase
passenger flow, we have expanded vehicle lanes from 4 to 8 and increased the
number of passport control booths in the entry and exit halls from 20 to 40. For efficient inspection of vehicles, cargo, and goods, we use the
Rapiscan inspection system, which allows contactless scanning with X-ray
radiation, without unloading. On average, processing takes 15-20 minutes per
cargo vehicle,» said Kuat Kenzhebayev, Deputy Head of the Kordai Border Control
Department.
