The fifth National Kurultai (Congress) has started in Kyzylorda. The first day of the forum is being held in the format of four panel sessions. At the venue, experts and public figures are discussing key areas of Kazakhstan’s development, ranging from socio-cultural development to science and education. Delegates have arrived from all regions of the country, including members of parliament, civil servants, entrepreneurs, scientists, and cultural figures.
«By a government decree at the end of 2025, the Concept for the creation and development of knowledge-intensive territories for 2026–2035 was approved. Three pilot projects for the establishment of science cities were identified. The first will be in the city of Kurchatov, the second is the Institute of Nuclear Physics near Almaty in the settlement of Alatau, and the third - a center based on Nazarbayev University. The relevant law has been submitted to the Mazhilis and is expected to be adopted this year. As a result, Kazakhstan will gain new tools to support the development of the country’s high-tech industries,» noted Kazakh Minister of Science and Higher Education Sayasat Nurbek.
Notably, the second day of the National Kurultai
meeting will be chaired by President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev. The results will be
summed up and decisions aimed at the country’s development will be outlined.
The initiative to set up the Kurultai was proposed by the Head of State, and
the institution was established in June 2022. Since then, meetings have been
held annually. The first took place in Ulytau, followed by sessions in Turkistan,
Atyrau, and Burabai.
