On the sidelines of the COP29 global climate summit, Kazakh
President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev held a series of meetings. During talks with
Kuwait’s Crown Prince Sheikh Sabah Al-Khaled Al-Hamad Al-Sabah, President
Tokayev emphasized Kazakhstan’s commitment to strengthening bilateral
cooperation, noting that Kuwait could become one of the major investors in the Kazakh
economy.
Special attention was given to cooperation within the
Central Asia–Gulf Cooperation Council framework. The Head of State also met
with President of Rwanda Paul Kagame. The parties expressed interest in
expanding the partnership across all sectors. Tokayev invited his counterpart
to visit Kazakhstan.
In his meeting with the President of Türkiye, the Head of
State discussed the dynamics of bilateral relations. The two countries have
established political dialogue and trade ties, with trade turnover reaching $6
billion last year. The parties now aim to increase this figure to $15 billion.
Recep Tayyip Erdoğan highlighted that several new bilateral agreements will be
signed next year at the High-Level Strategic Cooperation Council meeting in
Ankara.
Tokayev also met with the UK Prime Minister, as well as the
Presidents of the UAE, Moldova, Mongolia, Uzbekistan, Tajikistan, and other
high-ranking officials. He also held talks with the Grand Imam of Al-Azhar
University, inviting Sheikh Ahmed El-Tayeb to participate in the VIII Congress
of Leaders of World and Traditional Religions next year in Astana.
