Kazakh President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev began his working
trip to the Zhetisu region with a visit to the Taldykorgan industrial zone,
which hosts a plant producing industrial batteries. These batteries are used in
the oil and gas, mining, telecommunications, and railway sectors, as well as
for providing uninterrupted power in green energy projects. More than half of the
plant’s output is planned for export to CIS and Baltic countries, while the
rest will be supplied to the domestic market. Additionally, raw materials will
be sourced from domestic enterprises. Speaking to the workforce, President
Tokayev emphasized the importance of supporting the manufacturing sector.
«For the state to be strong, first of all, our regions must
be strong. We believe it is important to make Kazakhstan a country with a
developed industry. Much attention is paid to the Zhetisu region, which holds
strategic importance,» Tokayev said.
At a meeting with business leaders, the Head of State once
again emphasized that supporting businesses is one of the key priorities of
state policy. The governor of Zhetisu region, Beibit Issabayev, reported to President
Tokayev on the region’s socio-economic development. The gross regional product
is growing and is expected to exceed seven percent by the end of the year,
while industrial production is set to reach four percent. Investments in the
region have also increased by more than one and a half times. The Head of State
also visited a school built this year in the village of Yntymak, near
Taldykorgan. In total, three new schools have opened in the region this year.
Additionally, President Tokayev toured the training sports complex of the «Zhetysu»
volleyball club, built this year. He was also shown a residential building
intended for athletes. During his conversation with the volleyball players, the
Head of State wished them victories and signed a volleyball.
«Since last year, our team has been playing in the national
league. In the first round of the Republic of Kazakhstan Championship, we took
first place. We also secured third place in the Kazakhstan Cup,» said Zhanibek
Omar, a member of the «Zhetysu» men’s volleyball team.
Following that, President Tokayev visited the Table Tennis
Centre, which was built with funds from a public foundation. The center houses
a children’s and youth sports school for table games and sports tourism.
Overall, a number of new physical education complexes have been built in the
villages and cities of the region, and the construction of modular complexes
for the development of mass sports has begun.
