Students of the National
Institute of Oriental Languages and Civilizations (INALCO) in France will start
studying the Kazakh language. The additional course, which had been unavailable
for two years, will be introduced at the foreign university on October 6 this
week among the 105 languages taught at the institution. It is known that numerous
foreign students have already expressed interest in learning Kazakh. The French
diplomatic mission in Astana attributes this to the growing interest of modern
youth in the Central Asian region, and particularly, Kazakhstan. France is also
open to cooperation in the education field. Every year, about 500 students from
Kazakhstan enroll at French universities, often through a number of joint
educational scholarship programs.
“Students from
Kazakhstan can study in France in any field or specialization at any
university. If they have a solid knowledge base, they can enter a
higher economic school or a higher engineering school. We are all very proud
that the Kazakh language course will commence at the INALCO on October 6. It is
the only university in the world outside Kazakhstan and the former Soviet Union
countries to offer Kazakh language courses within Europe. It’s our world-famous
INALCO. We are very happy, as it shows good and friendly cooperation between
France and Kazakhstan,” said Xavier Le Torrivellec, Attache for Educational
Cooperation at the French Embassy in Kazakhstan.
