President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev reviewed the preparations for the upcoming fifth World Nomad Games. He visited the Astana Arena stadium, where the opening ceremony of the international competition will take place. As part of the preparations, the equipment has been updated and major repairs have been carried out at the sports facility, which can accommodate up to 30,000 spectators. The Head of State also toured the accreditation center at the Qazaqstan Athletics Complex. During his visit, President Tokayev was presented with the national team’s uniform. Also, Minister of Tourism and Sports Yermek Marzhikpayev reported on the athletes’ preparation for the event.
«The preparation of the
national team, including 295 athletes, is underway. They have participated in
42 international and national training camps, with five held abroad and 37 in Kazakhstan.
They have also competed in 32 tournaments, including seven abroad and 25 in our
country,» Marzhikpayev said.
The
Head of State also visited the Kazanat Hippodrome, which will host spectacular equestrian
sports, and the venues for zhamby atu and tenge ilu competitions. The fifth World Nomad Games featuring around
3,000 athletes and official delegation members from 89 countries will be held
in the Kazakh capital from September 8 to 13. About 100,000 tourists are expected to visit the capital during the large-scale event.
A total of 1,500 volunteers are involved in the
sports competition. The cultural program includes 150 events, such as a museum
of nomadic civilization, a city of craftspeople,
a sculpture exhibition in the ethnic village, and an international conference
on nomads at the National Museum.
