President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev received the OSCE
Chairperson-in-Office and Finland’s Minister for Foreign Affairs Elina Valtonen.
The Head of State emphasized that Kazakhstan firmly upholds fundamental values
such as sovereignty, territorial integrity, and respect for human rights. These
key principles are enshrined in the Helsinki Final Act, which marks its 50th
anniversary this year as the cornerstone of European security. The Head of
State expressed his support for Elina Valtonen’s work as the OSCE
Chairperson-in-Office amid a challenging regional and global security environment.
He also praised Kazakh-Finnish relations, noting that Finland has long been a
trusted partner for Astana in the Scandinavian region, and reaffirmed
Kazakhstan’s readiness to expand bilateral contacts. For her part, Elina
Valtonen stressed that the OSCE attaches great importance to strengthening ties
with Kazakhstan and Central Asia.
