President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev received the representative
of the Human Rights Commissioner in Astana, Bayan Zhalmaganbetova. During the
meeting, they discussed the protection of citizens’ rights, including the
creation of favorable conditions for people with disabilities. The Ombudsperson
informed the Head of State about the current human rights situation and
proposed a number of initiatives. President Tokayev recalled that in December
2023, the Action Plan on Human Rights and Rule of Law was signed, and stressed
that the Ombudsperson and representatives play a key role in its implementation.
He also emphasized the importance of cooperating with local authorities,
relevant ministries, and NGOs to address issues faced by people with
disabilities.
