Parliamentary reform in Kazakhstan: 300 proposals received

President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev received State Counselor Erlan Karin, who heads the working group on parliamentary reform. Karin briefed the President on the interim results of the group’s work, noting that since the launch of the dedicated Parliamentary Reform section on the e-Otinish government platform and the Egov service, around 300 proposals have been submitted by citizens and public figures. These proposals are now under review and will be examined in detail at the group’s second meeting. Tokayev reiterated the key role of the upcoming parliamentary reform, which will mark a new stage in the country’s political transformation. He instructed that all proposals be thoroughly reviewed and that specific recommendations for modernizing the parliamentary system be developed on their basis.
