On July 25, at the invitation of Russian President
Vladimir Putin, President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev visited Omsk to take part in
the XXII Kazakhstan-Russia Interregional Cooperation Forum. During the visit,
the Head of State paid tribute to those who fell in World War II and laid
flowers at a memorial plaque dedicated to Kemel Tokayev. The plaque is
installed on the building of the Omsk Hospital for War Veterans. Since July
1941, the hospital has treated nearly 150,000 wounded servicemen, including
Kemel Tokayev, the father of the Kazakh President. President Tokayev also
learned about the hospital’s history and activities.
