Kazakh President meets with Secretary of Russia’s Security Council

President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev met today with Secretary of Russia’s Security Council Sergei Shoigu to discuss bilateral cooperation and regional security. Tokayev emphasized the developing and deepening partnership between the countries, noting that Shoigu’s visit enabled to once again analyze progress and explore new areas of collaboration. In turn, Shoigu thanked the President for the opportunity to discuss current issues of regional security.

«Economic cooperation between our countries is also developing successfully. We have reached agreements on 171 projects, and more than 50 projects have already reached the final stage of implementation. Russia is now one of the main investors in the Kazakh economy. I think that cooperation between our states in law enforcement and defense is also progressing,» Tokayev said.

«The relations that have developed between our fraternal peoples, between our countries, are consistently upheld at a very high level. The volume of our trade and joint projects is impressive. Of course, our interaction is not limited to bilateral cooperation. We are actively working within the Shanghai Cooperation Organization, CSTO, CIS, and EAEU. The projects initiated by Kazakhstan, among others, are successfully and actively developing,» Shoigu noted.
