Today, at the Akorda presidential palace, President
Kassym-Jomart Tokayev presented awards to medical workers and congratulated
them on the upcoming professional holiday. He emphasized the special
significance of the meeting, stating that health workers rightfully deserve the
title of heroes of peacetime, and expressed his deep gratitude.
«Medical workers are the guardians of the nation’s health
and represent one of the most respected and noble professions. During the
global COVID-19 pandemic, we all witnessed their selfless work. In the most
difficult times, they saved thousands of lives. We deeply appreciate your
dedication and are proud of your resilience. To save one life is to save all of
humanity,» Tokayev said.
Today, around 380,000 professionals work in the country’s
healthcare system. The contribution of every specialist who saves lives is invaluable.
The President also noted that Kazakhstan has made significant progress in this field.
«Around 800 clinics and hospitals have been built over the
past five years, and work in this direction will continue. The state will keep
developing healthcare infrastructure. Caring for the nation’s health begins
with the provision of primary medical care. A national project to modernize
rural healthcare is currently underway. To date, 469 facilities have already
been built, and another 186 are scheduled to be commissioned by yearend.
District hospitals are being equipped with modern medical equipment,» the Head
of State noted.
Medical tourism is also developing rapidly in the country.
Every year, more than 10,000 people from 45 countries travel to Kazakhstan
specifically for medical treatment. According to President Tokayev, this
demonstrates the high quality of the national healthcare system. Kazakh doctors
perform open-heart surgeries, conduct organ transplants, and apply advanced
radiation therapy methods. The pharmaceutical industry is also expanding. The
Head of State emphasized the importance of continuing work in this strategic
sector and attracting major international investors.
«We should fully unlock the potential of medical science. A
strong foundation has already been laid. Our scientists have achieved
significant results in oncology, transplantology, neonatology, genetics, and
biomedicine. Domestically developed drugs for the treatment of blood disorders
are being introduced. Artificial intelligence is opening new horizons in the
diagnosis and treatment of diseases. A major breakthrough in this promising
field lies ahead. We must also fully harness the potential of nuclear medicine,»
Tokayev added.
Concluding the event, President Tokayev presented state
awards to medical workers who have made significant contributions to the
development of the national healthcare system.
