The first day of President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev’s working visit to New York was full of meetings with the heads of major companies, including the transnational Cameco. The company is a partner of Kazakhstan’s Kazatomprom and has not only invested over $500 million in the country’s economy but also facilitated technology transfer. Kazakhstan is interested in its innovative methods.
Tokayev
also discussed cooperation in the digital sphere and artificial intelligence
with the President of Global Affairs at Goldman Sachs Global Institute. The leading US investment bank brings extensive
expertise in implementing digital financial platforms.
Partnerships in testing, assessment, and AI integration were discussed at a meeting with CEO of Educational Testing Service (ETS) Amit Sevak, who expressed his willingness to cooperate with Kazakhstan. ETS administers more than 50 million tests annually in 180 countries.
Tokayev also met with representatives of the Smithsonian Institution to explore cultural cooperation and opportunities to promote Kazakh culture in the United States. Starting next year, Kazakh scholars will be able to undertake internships at the institution.
«As part of the Bolashak scholarship program, internships in various fields – anthropology, history, cultural and religious studies, and others – will now be offered at the renowned
Smithsonian Institution. The second meeting was held with ETS, a global leader in testing and
education. Together, we will work with this center to change the methodology
and content – in other words,
transform our Unified National
Testing.
Next month, a large delegation of researchers will arrive in Kazakhstan
specifically for this purpose,» said Kazakh Minister of
Science and Higher Education Sayasat Nurbek.
