In the first half of the year, Kazakhstan’s freight turnover
rose by 8.6%, with transit rail shipments exceeding 14.5 million tonnes. This
was reported to President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev today by Talgat Aldybergenov,
Chairman of the Board of Kazakhstan Temir Zholy (KTZ). These figures reflect
growing demand for Kazakhstan's logistics infrastructure and the country’s
efforts to enhance its transport potential. As part of the development of the
Trans-Kazakhstan railway corridor, more than 1,700 kilometres of new rail lines
are currently under construction, while 3,000 kilometres of existing tracks are
being modernized. KTZ is also working to expand its terminal network to boost
throughput capacity and improve logistics operations. Particular attention is
being given to digital transformation. For example, the time required to
process declarations along the Trans-Caspian Transport Route has been reduced
from eight hours to just 30 minutes.
