Kazakh President awards Gennady Golovkin Barys Order

President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev received Gennady Golovkin. The Head of State congratulated him on his election as the World Boxing President, describing this decision as recognition of the renowned athlete’s contribution to the development of world boxing, as well as his professionalism and impeccable reputation. He noted that Golovkin faces major tasks in his new role as World Boxing President, and also praised his work as head of the National Olympic Committee. The Head of State awarded Golovkin the Barys order of the first degree for his outstanding service to national sports.

«You have indeed made an enormous contribution to the development of global sports, honorably representing the Kazakh school of boxing with its rich traditions and, of course, contributing to Kazakhstan’s worldwide recognition as a boxing nation. A new stage in your professional journey is now beginning. You have been elected President of World Boxing, a new international boxing federation. It is worth noting that, for the first time, a representative of Kazakhstan is heading a global sports organization. I am confident that your professional vision will elevate the federation to a new level and open new horizons for the development of boxing,» Tokayev noted.
