President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev visited the Alem.ai International center
for artificial intelligence, where new AI projects and technologies are being
developed. These solutions are designed for implementation not only in the
public and private sectors, but also in the everyday lives of Kazakh citizens.
Today, the Astana Smart City project was launched - an AI platform that
integrates city data and systems in real time.
Several educational initiatives were also launched with the participation of the President. In 14 regions of the country, Tomorrow School institutions focused on artificial intelligence have opened. A Center for Creative Technologies, TUMO Astana, has also opened for talented teenagers. The President was also presented with the AI Research University, which will be based at Alem.ai. It will open its doors to new students on September 1. Later, the Head of State awarded the winners of the Alem.ai battle and AI Governance Cup competitions. He emphasized that progressive youth will become the driving force in elevating the country to a new level.
«Our fundamental values are set out in the Preamble of the People’s Constitution. The highest value of the state is the people. Therefore, the development of human capital has been designated as a constitutional task. The Basic Law explicitly states that Kazakhstan recognizes the development of science, education, and innovation as a strategic direction of state policy,» Tokayev said.
The President noted that a foundation has been laid in the country for the development and implementation of new technologies. A Ministry of Artificial Intelligence and Digital Development has been established. A legislative framework for the introduction of new technologies has been developed, and a Digital Code has been adopted. The Law on Artificial Intelligence has come into force. In the near future, the Digital Qazaqstan strategy will be approved, defining the direction of the country’s digital development. Additionally, a supercomputer cluster has been launched.
«Comprehensive digitalization and AI integration are now among the key factors in Kazakhstan’s overall modernization - from the public administration system to the creative industries. This summer, Astana will host the Games of the Future. Around 1,000 athletes from 50 countries will take part in competitions that combine traditional disciplines with esports. The new sporting format will enable more active integration of advanced technologies into everyday life and, more importantly, will help promote sports among young people,» Tokayev added.
The Head of State noted that digitalization and AI open the way to
large-scale transformations in the country. Therefore, this field requires
highly qualified specialists. To this end, students, teachers, and
schoolchildren are being trained in AI skills. He also highlighted the
proposals presented at two competitions, stressing that these developments
should not remain at the level of ideas or pilot projects. The main goal,
Tokayev emphasized, is the gradual scaling of innovations into the practice of public
institutions.
