Kazakh President attends national flag-raising ceremony

Today, Kazakhstan is celebrating the Day of State Symbols. A solemn ceremony to raise the National Flag took place at the Atameken Ethno-Memorial Complex in Astana, attended by President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev. He emphasized that this holiday holds special significance for the country.

«State symbols are attributes of our Independence. The Emblem, the Flag, and the Anthem embody our statehood and demonstrate to the world that Kazakhstan is a sovereign nation. The flag raised high symbolizes the spiritual strength of our people. That is why a flag-raising ceremony is held annually to honor this holiday,» Tokayev said.

Today, the Kazakh flag is recognized by the international community. It is flown at the United Nations headquarters. Kazakh mountaineers have repeatedly raised it on the highest peaks, and athletes have carried it to the podium at international competitions.

«This year, for the first time, our service members independently carried out a peacekeeping mission under the sky-blue flag. Kazakhstan is a strong and progressive nation, and the accomplishments of our fellow citizens stand as proof of that. State symbols awaken in each of us a deep pride in our country. The Emblem, Flag, and Anthem embody true patriotism. They hold a special place in the heart of every citizen and vividly represent our national identity and aspirations for the future,» Tokayev added.

The President emphasized that this year marks the 30th anniversary of the country's Constitution, highlighting that it contains the fundamental principles on which our society is built. The supremacy of law and order has been established in the country, and large-scale transformations are being steadily implemented. Today, under the country's sky-blue flag, representatives of various ethnic groups live together in peace and harmony. The Head of State stressed that only by preserving and strengthening unity can we achieve new accomplishments. During the ceremony, President Tokayev, who is also the Supreme Commander-in-Chief of Kazakhstan's Armed Forces, awarded officer shoulder straps to 14 top graduates of the nation’s educational institutions, including those from the National Security Committee and the Ministries of Defense, Internal Affairs, and Emergency Situations.

«May our sky-blue flag wave proudly! Peace and prosperity to our Motherland!» the President said.
