Today, Kazakhstan marks Culture and National Traditions Day
as part of the nationwide Nauryznama Decade. To promote Kazakh cultural
heritage and traditions, National Guard soldiers presented women in Astana with
elegant jewelry featuring traditional patterns, following the Selt Etkizer
tradition. This ancient custom dates back to when young men would give such
gifts to women who, ahead of Nauryz Meiramy, prepared a special dish for men
called «Uyqyashar,» meaning «awakening from sleep.» The traditional rings and
bracelets brought genuine joy to women in the capital.
«We really liked it. It was such a pleasant surprise. I
wholeheartedly congratulate everyone on the holiday,» said Astana resident Aigerim
Spanaly.
«A big thank you to the National Guard for the gift. And
happy Nauryz to our country, Kazakhstan,» said Astana resident Diana
Sauirdinova.
«I was truly amazed by the gift—I didn’t expect it. I’d like
to congratulate the people of Kazakhstan on the recent Korisu holiday and the
upcoming New Year, Nauryz Meiramy,» said Astana resident Dana Baltabai.
