A new gas processing plant will start operating in Kazakhstan in 2027. During a working trip to the Mangystau region, Prime Minister Olzhas Bektenov reviewed the progress of its construction. The project’s launch will meet the population's demand for additional gas volumes and, most importantly, give impetus to further development of the industry, enabling the production of petrochemical products with high added value. The plant's capacity will be 900 billion cubic meters of associated petroleum and natural gas mixture per year.
«The plant is being constructed in accordance with environmental safety requirements and international standards. To date, all engineering, geodetic, geological, hydrometeorological and environmental studies have been fully completed,» said Abay Molbayev, acting head of the Kazakh gas processing plant.
Bektenov also toured the Caspiy
desalination plant in Aktau, which is currently undergoing modernization. This
will allow the plant to double its capacity to 40,000 cubic meters of water.
The main work has already been
completed, and preparations are underway to commission the facility. The
KazAzot plant, whose products are export-oriented, also plans to expand its
production. An ammonia and urea complex will be built to produce mineral fertilizers for agriculture and chemicals for the mining sector.
