During a meeting on the
elimination of the consequences of the floods, Kazakh Prime Minister Olzhas
Bektenov tasked the relevant ministries with providing temporary housing,
healthcare, and education services to those affected by the disaster. It has
been instructed to pay special attention to maintaining full-fledged work of
evacuation centers with access to medical services. Bektenov highlighted the
importance of prioritizing the repair of social infrastructure facilities,
including schools, kindergartens, hospitals, and clinics. The Ministry of
Agriculture received instructions to prevent the deterioration of the epizootic
situation in flood-affected areas. Additionally, the Ministry of Education was
tasked with exempting schoolchildren from exams and assisting them in catching
up on any missed education in the future. Notably, 130 schools in flood-prone
regions have been switched to distance learning format.
“Primary school children, grades
1-4, will be accommodated together with their parents in health centers and
camps with full organization of the educational process. Students in grades 5-8
will be accommodated in boarding schools such as Daryn, Bilim-Innovation
Lyceum, and NIS. High school students, grades 9-11, will be placed in colleges
and universities. The task is to provide children with education and summer
recreation until the end of the floods and the completion of restoration work,”
said Kazakh Deputy Prime Minister Tamara Duissenova.
