Kassym-Jomart Tokayev has sent a telegram of condolences to the Turkish President with regard to the terrorist attack in Istanbul, according to the Akorda website.
"Sharing the bitterness of loss at this difficult moment, on behalf of all the people of Kazakhstan and on my own behalf, I express the most sincere condolences and sympathy to the families and loved ones of the victims. I also wish a speedy recovery to the injured,” the letter reads.
There were no Kazakh casualties in the explosion in Turkey, reports the Consulate General of Kazakhstan in Istanbul. According to the Turkish Interior Minister Suleyman Soylu, the person who is believed to have planted the bomb on Istiklal Street has been arrested. The blast in the heart of Istanbul killed six people and injured 81 others. Turkish Vice President Fuat Oktay said that the incident has been deemed a terrorist attack.
