Kazakh national zhamby atu team for fifth World Nomad Games announced

The athletes who will represent Kazakhstan in zhamby atu at the upcoming fifth World Nomad Games this autumn in Astana have been selected. The national team in Kazakh traditional horseback archery consists of four athletes. The selection process involved 10 of the country’s top athletes, who competed in Hungarian, Asian, Turkic, and zhamby styles. The athletes are currently in a training camp, with the final stage set to take place in Astana from August 27 to September 7.

«Our goal was to participate in the World Nomad Games. The selection process was truly spectacular. I believe we will represent our country with honor and make every effort to win,» said Yeralkhan Aikoz, a member of Kazakhstan’s national zhamby atu team.

«The preparation of our national team is progressing at a high level. I can say that we are 70 to 80 percent ready, but there is still work to be done. Four of our athletes have secured spots for the upcoming fifth World Nomad Games, and intensive work is being done. After all, the World Nomad Games are like the Olympics for our national sports,» said Yeldos Badashev, head coach of Kazakhstan’s national zhamby atu team.

Notably, the fifth World Nomad Games, featuring around 2,000 athletes, will take place from September 8 to13 in the Kazakh capital. A total of 97 medal sets will be contested across 21 different sports at this large-scale competition.
