Art without borders: Kazakh Artists’ Union celebrates its 90th anniversary

An international exhibition dedicated to the 90th anniversary of the Union of Artists of Kazakhstan has opened at the National Museum in Astana, featuring the finest works of Kazakh artists. The exhibition displays approximately 270 artworks created in various techniques, including painting, graphics, sculptures, tapestries, and felt works. What unites them all is that they were created in the last two years and are being presented to the public for the first time. Despite the fusion of styles and a diversity of colors, all the works reflect the national flavor and the best traditions of the domestic art school. The exhibition also presents the works of artists from Central Asia, Georgia, Lithuania, Ukraine, Belarus, Moldova, and Canada. Over the past year, residents of the country’s metropolises have had the opportunity to connect with contemporary visual art through a traveling exhibition. It’s worth noting that the Kazakh Artists’ Union currently unites around 1,200 professional artists.

“The exhibition features those artists who have participated in various exhibitions and achieved recognition. Overall, among the CIS countries, the Kazakh school of painting holds a special place. I regard this as an honorable acknowledgement. It's crucial for us to preserve the achievements and legacy of the older generation. It is our responsibility to carry it forward,” Umirbek Zhubaniyazov, Chairman of the Kazakh Artists’ Union, said.
