Graduates of colleges in Kazakhstan began to receive QR coded degree certificates. The work is being carried out as part of the digitalization of the education sector, the country’s Ministry of Education notes. The use of automatic identification technology and data verification will protect documents from counterfeiting. At the same time, employers will be able to verify their authenticity.
“The QR code will allow to check
the authenticity of a person’s degree by giving a link to the state website,
which will display information about the owner, educational institution and
details of the document from the state national educational database. The QR
code will contain basic information about the graduate, including full name,
name of organization, year of admission and graduation, name of the specialty
and degree, form of study, and serial number of the certificate,” said Altai
Rakhimberlin, spokesperson for the Kazakh Ministry of Education.
Graduation certificates are
available online on the digital document service of the eGov.kz website and
mobile app, as well as on the platforms of second-tier banks. In total, more
than 140,000 college graduates will receive QR coded certificates this year. Besides,
the ministry introduced another change, enabling Kazakh graduates to receive
college diplomas simultaneously with the school certificate. The new
educational program will allow students in grades 10-11 to receive professional
training at the same time. 16 job qualifications have already been chosen. The
pilot project will start working from the new academic year in all regions of
the country.
