Referendum polling stations are open in more than 40
countries worldwide. As usual, the first to open were stations in Asian
countries. Kazakh citizens residing in South Korea and Japan exercised their
constitutional right to vote at polling stations within Kazakh diplomatic
missions.
«Even though we are outside our homeland, we care about
everything happening in our country. That is why we came to this referendum to
fulfill our civic duty. Every Kazakh citizen living in Korea can come to the
Embassy and cast their vote,» said Kulpynai Baituova.
Kazakh citizens in Russia are also casting their votes in
the referendum on the construction of a nuclear power plant. Polling stations
have been open since 7 a.m. at the Kazakh Embassy in Moscow and at consulates
in four other cities. It is noteworthy that over 60,000 Kazakh students study
in Russia.
«Today, I came to the Embassy to participate in the
referendum, cast my vote, and exercise my constitutional right. I voted for the
future of Kazakhstan and for the modern development of its economy,» said Akyn
Ispullayev.
«On the day of the nationwide referendum, the
Kazakh Embassy in Russia opened polling station No. 397. In total, there will
be five polling stations in Russia. In addition to the Embassy, these include
stations at the Consulates General in St. Petersburg, Astrakhan, Omsk, and
Kazan. As always, we expect a high voter turnout,» said Alexander Sinyagovsky, the
chairperson of the precinct referendum commission No. 397.
