Kazakh and Georgian Prime Ministers hold meeting in Almaty

In the first six months of 2023, the trade turnover between Kazakhstan and Georgia increased by 30 percent, reaching $190 million. This was announced at the meeting of the Prime Ministers of the two countries, Alikhan Smailov and Irakli Garibashvili, held in Almaty. The parties discussed cooperation in trade, transport, and logistics. Prime Minister Smailov emphasized that Georgia is an important and reliable partner of Kazakhstan in the South Caucasus region. In particular, the two countries are actively strengthening their partnership in developing the Trans-Caspian International Transport Route as part of their cooperation in the transport and transit sector. It is worth noting that in six months, the volume of cargo transportation along the Middle Corridor surged by 77 percent, reaching 1.3 million tonnes. According to Smailov, Kazakhstan is determined to continue the partnership across all areas. On his part, Garibashvili also expressed Georgia's readiness to enhance effective interaction with Kazakhstan across the entire spectrum of bilateral cooperation.
