In the first six
months of 2023, the trade turnover between Kazakhstan and Georgia increased by
30 percent, reaching $190 million. This was announced at the meeting of the
Prime Ministers of the two countries, Alikhan Smailov and Irakli Garibashvili,
held in Almaty. The parties discussed cooperation in trade, transport, and
logistics. Prime Minister Smailov emphasized that Georgia is an important and
reliable partner of Kazakhstan in the South Caucasus region. In particular, the
two countries are actively strengthening their partnership in developing the
Trans-Caspian International Transport Route as part of their cooperation in the
transport and transit sector. It is worth noting that in six months, the volume
of cargo transportation along the Middle Corridor surged by 77 percent,
reaching 1.3 million tonnes. According to Smailov, Kazakhstan is determined to
continue the partnership across all areas. On his part, Garibashvili also
expressed Georgia's readiness to enhance effective interaction with Kazakhstan
across the entire spectrum of bilateral cooperation.
