Several more renewable energy
projects are set to be implemented in Kazakhstan. Thus, a 100-megawatt wind
power station will be established in the Zhambyl region. The Asian Infrastructure
Investment Bank (AIIB) will invest $36 million in the construction and
operation of the green facility. The project is being developed by Chinese and
Dubai-based companies and will also receive joint financing from the European
Bank for Reconstruction and Development. Support will also come from the Green
Climate Fund and the Clean Technology Fund. Furthermore, plans are underway for
the construction of one-gigawatt wind power stations, equipped with an energy
storage system, in collaboration with the French side. This project will be
implemented in two stages. Meanwhile, construction is underway for another
alternative energy source - a 48-megawatt wind farm in the Kostanai region.
According to the QazaqGreen portal, there are currently 130 operational
renewable energy facilities in Kazakhstan, including 46 wind, 44 solar, 37
hydro, and three bioelectric power stations.
