Kazakhstan sets a strategic task to become one of the top digital hubs in the Eurasian space, Kazakh President announced at the Digital Bridge 2022 International Technological Forum. Kassym-Jomart Tokayev said that according to experts, over 70 percent of products and services worldwide will be on digital platforms in ten years. He emphasized that today the country ranks 30th in the top digitized states, according to the UN. Kazakhstan is one of the few countries that fully applied digital documents. The Digital Family Map project is being implemented as well. The further digital transformation of Kazakhstan implies a transition to a brand new format of public administration`s digitalization – the Invisible Government. It also envisages measures to support digital economy and creation of favorable conditions for the IT sector similarly to Astana Hub with its special tax and visa regime and more than 900 operating companies. Along with this, the Head of State noted that Kazakhstan will continue a large-scale modernization of the IT infrastructure.
“A topical issue for our country, where around 40 percent of the population lives in rural areas, is to provide all citizens with affordable high-speed Internet. The Kazakh Ministry of Digital Development should intensify work on providing the most remote villages with networks of low earth orbit satellite systems SpaceX and OneWeb,” President Tokayev added.
