The situation in the Kostanai region is under control. All the necessary measures were taken to extinguish the fire, stated Kazakh President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev at a meeting of the emergency response team. He gave a number of instructions to ensure the smooth operation of all departments to completely eliminate the fires as soon as possible. The President stressed the importance of rendering support to people who had to leave their homes. He assigned the Government and Kostanai’s governor’s office to provide compensations to those suffered from the fire in a prompt manner. The Head of State also met with the personnel of Interior, Defense and Emergency Situations Ministries, as well as with volunteers. Kassym-Jomart Tokayev praised the courage of all emergency responders.
“Our priority is to take all the necessary measures to eliminate all the consequences of the wildfire. It's still burning. Therefore, the task is to completely extinguish it right there. I have already noted that the wildfire has spread to other areas. The Kazakh Ministry for Emergency Situations thereby faces a tough task. Moreover, we need to learn a lesson from this. Each emergency situation has a lesson that should be learnt. But, the main thing I would like to draw attention to is the lack of a clear algorithm, which has to be composed by the relevant ministry or other law enforcement agencies,” said President Tokayev.
The Head of State also visited an evacuation center deployed at a school in the Auliyekol village. He met with victims of the wildfires, noting that they can rely on the state support in such a difficult situation. As such, new houses will be built for them within two months. President Tokayev also got acquainted with the work of the distribution point of humanitarian aid.
