Kassym-Jomart Tokayev held talks with Chinese President Xi Jinping, who arrived in Kazakhstan on a state visit. The parties discussed prospects for enhancing cooperation in transport, logistics and agro-industrial sectors, as well as addressed the issue of using transboundary water resources. Following the negotiations, the leaders signed a Joint statement marking the 30th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between the countries. As Kassym-Jomart Tokayev emphasized, the Joint statement they adopt today will open up a new ‘golden 30th anniversary’ of bilateral relations. In turn, Xi Jinping commended the level of Kazakh-Chinese cooperation, highlighting that China supports Kazakhstan’s position on regional and international issues. The Chinese President expressed confidence that this visit would give a new impetus to further strengthening of bilateral relations.
