Kassym-Jomart Tokayev addresses Taza Kazakhstan environmental festival

The Taza Kazakhstan environmental festival was held today in Astana, with President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev in attendance. He noted that the project has been underway in the country for a year. Over this period, participants in the nationwide campaign have set an example for all Kazakh residents. He emphasized that maintaining the cleanliness of the mind, body, and environment is a reflection of a person’s inner culture. The Head of State also reiterated his call to make cleanliness an integral part of society’s way of life.

«Cleanliness should begin with every person, every house, every street and every city. The Taza Kazakhstan campaign should not be a one-time event, but a way of life. As the saying goes: «Zhas kelse – iske» («Youth is the time for action» in Kazakh.) The idea of environmental protection unites you. Thanks to your joint efforts, this meaningful initiative has turned into a large-scale movement. This is what unity for a common cause means,» Tokayev said.

The Head of State praised the work of volunteers. He also acknowledged the efforts of industrial enterprises and businesses that have contributed to improving the environmental situation. As a result of the Taza Kazakhstan project, millions of tonnes of waste have been collected and millions of seedlings planted. The All-Kazakhstan Forest Planting Day is also becoming a good tradition.

«As part of this campaign, nearly 4.5 million tree seedlings have been planted across all regions of the country over the past three days, replenishing our forest fund. By cleaning up our surroundings and planting trees, we are creating a healthy and comfortable environment. The condition of our courtyards, streets, parks, and public spaces depends only on us. Cleanliness and order are among the key indicators of a high quality of life,» Tokayev added.

The Head of State awarded young Kazakh citizens who actively participated in the Taza Kazakhstan campaign. President Tokayev then toured an exhibition dedicated to the festival. In the capital’s Zhastar Park, he also planted a tree alongside eco-activists.
