Crossing the border will become four times faster! The daily passenger capacity at the Kazakh-Russian border will increase over the next four years. During these years, the authorities of the two countries intend to carry out a large-scale reconstruction of checkpoints on the border of Kazakhstan and Russia. This was stated by Kazakh Minister of Industry and Infrastructure Development Beibut Atamkulov. There are currently 30 motor vehicle crossing points in operation on the border of the two countries. Every day 10,000 cars and 28,000 passengers pass through them. Hence, long queues are formed. According to experts in this field, the reconstruction will help to solve the problem of traffic. The first to be repaired are checkpoints of Syrym, Taskala, Kosak, Orlitobe, Zhanazhol and Alimbet. This includes the modernization of existing buildings and facilities, the acquisition of modern complexes, an increase in the passport control area and the number of lanes.
