Giant kimeshek enters Global Book of Records

A world record has been set in Kazakhstan: a four-meter kimeshek, sewn by craftswomen from Pavlodar, has been officially entered into the Global Book of Records. To create the monumental headdress, the artisans used silver and metal coins, along with more than 2,000 beads - including pearls and other precious stones. In Kazakh culture, the kimeshek holds deep symbolic meaning. Traditionally worn by married women, it represents wisdom, dignity, and national identity. It also signified a woman’s respected status within both the family and society.

«We would like to see Kazakh national clothing worn not only on stage but also in everyday life, thereby helping to popularize it. That’s why we are committed to promoting traditional clothing and headdresses, as well as showcasing a variety of Kazakh outfits that feature traditional ornaments in a modern style. Our goal is to introduce these designs to the public - especially to today’s youth,» said Aizhan Absattarova, Chair of the Pavlodar Regional Branch of the National Public Association «Qazaq Analary – Dasturge Zhol».
