Foreign tourist arrivals increase threefold in Kazakhstan

Over 250,000 foreigners have visited Kazakhstan since the beginning of summer this year, which is three times more than for the same period in 2022, according to the country’s Ministry of Culture and Sports. Last summer, the number of foreign visitors amounted to more than 77,000 people.

“According to the eQonaQ information system, the number of tourists from CIS countries was 180,000 people, or 72 percent of the total amount from the beginning of summer to July 23. It bears noting that last year this figure amounted to 77 percent. So that the share of tourists from far abroad is increasing. Thus, the number of visitors from Mongolia surged 11.6 times, from 489 to 5,500, from China - 8.5 times, from 2,000 to 18,000, from India - 4.7 times, from South Korea and Iran - 3.8 times each, from Germany - three times, as well as from the U.S. - 2.2 times,” said Yernur Kenzhebekov, Press Secretary of the Kazakh Tourism National Company.

It should be noted that tourists in Kazakhstan mainly prefer to spend their holidays in cities such as Almaty and Astana, as well as in the Almaty and Mangystau regions.
