Ecotourism in Kazakhstan is
becoming increasingly popular. The number of such travelers has more than
doubled, with growth rates over the past three years reported by the Ministry
of Culture and Sports. Thus, while there were 985,000 ecotourists in 2020, this
figure soared to two million people by the end of 2022.
“This highlights the dynamic
development of ecological tourism in Kazakhstan and promotion of the ecotourism
culture throughout the country. Moreover, new tourist facilities are being
established in the national parks, including visitor centers, campgrounds, and
glamping sites. These facilities offer information about the local ecosystem
and wildlife, as well as guidance on routes, transit points, and more. 14
visitor centers were opened in Kazakhstan's national parks over the last two
years, including seven with private investments. Additionally, the number of
glamping sites in the country has risen to 38 this year,” said Nurtas Bailarov,
spokesperson for the Kazakh Ministry of Culture and Sports.
According to Bailarov, the
country is developing tourist routes and trails, fostering sustainable business
development, enhancing the legal framework, and designing virtual tours. As for
the latter, interactive presentations featuring 3D panoramic images have been
implemented in the West Altai Reserve, as well as the Kolsai Kolderi,
Katon-Karagai, Sairam-Ugam, and Tarbagatai national parks.
