Kazakh cuisine is increasingly becoming popular in Paris. Natives of Shymkent city launched a food truck with national dishes in the French capital. It took them a year to prepare the project for launch.
“In general, our purpose was to promote Kazakhstan as well. Although we did not think that it would cause a big reaction from our compatriots who are happy for us. The French people ask what is it, who we are, can they try some food. If we have time, we try to explain and briefly tell about who we are, where we came from and what Kazakhstan looks like. Of course, culturally this is a great advertisement for our people,” said Madina Kulmanova, co-founder of the company.
The appearance of the truck literally shook the Kazakh diaspora. Local Kazakhs began coming to the food truck, which is located at the Chatillon Montrouge subway station. Now the restaurant on wheels is open five days a week and plans to travel around the outskirts of Paris.
“For me, it is a very good idea. The French don’t know this cuisine well. It is necessary to involve them so that they are interested in how, for example, to make a Kazakh samsa. I wish this food truck a good future because the project is very good,” noted a singer Jonathan Dassin.
“I found out on Facebook that this food truck was launched and I immediately decided to come and try it. I bought some food, I’ll take it home, I want to treat the children. We are Kazakhs, wherever we are. People here don’t know much about Kazakhstan yet, I think such ideas generate a great interest in our country,” shared Necdet Tuncer, a representative of Kazakh diaspora.
Customers are offered lunch menus called “Nomad”, “Steppe” and “Silk Road”. The authors of the project plan to expand the range of delicacies and treat their customers to kazy and kurt.
