The first reverse vending machine (RVM) appeared in the Kazakh capital of Nur-Sultan. The device for receiving plastic bottles, aluminium and colored plastic containers is designed to draw the attention of city residents to the necessity of sorting waste in order to save the environment. In turn, the user gets out a monetary reward or eco-bonuses. They can be saved in the app and spent in shopping malls and supermarkets, the developers explain.
“It is the first one in the capital. We plan to install another 10 or 15 RVMs by the end of June, and next month 30 to 50. It all depends on the signing of contracts,” said Adlet Nurselinov, project developer.
