The first community of Kazakhs “Miras” has appeared in Berlin to promote the culture of Kazakhstan. It includes compatriots who work and study there. They plan to hold creative evenings of Kazakh classics, organize film screenings, as well as present a distinctive culture of the Kazakh people at exhibitions and festivals. In addition, a special program for children was developed as well. They will be taught Kazakh language in the cultural center at the Embassy of Kazakhstan in Berlin on weekends. The classes will be held in a playful way. Also, young Kazakhs will be introduced to Kazakh traditions and folklore.
“We want our children, who grow up here to remember our traditions and speak the Kazakh language. Our main task is to teach them this. We will also cook our traditional dishes. We plan to purchase a yurt as well. I think that adults will also want to learn how to assemble it. We are set to gather at creative evenings of our poets and writers, watch films made in Kazakhstan. I believe that adults will be able to improve their Kazakh this way,” said Ainur Matayeva, chairperson, “Miras” Community of Kazakhs, Germany.
