The first Central Asia–Italy Summit kicked off in Astana.
President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev welcomed the heads of state participating in
the event. The leaders of the Kyrgyz Republic, Uzbekistan, Turkmenistan, and
Tajikistan have arrived in the capital. The Prime Minister of Italy is also
attending. The parties will discuss interregional trade, investment, energy,
transport, logistics, environmental issues, education, and science. Notably,
Italy became one of the first EU countries to join the dialogue in the C5+1
format and to recognize the strategic importance of the Central Asian region.
