The exhibition titled ‘The Way of Abai’ has opened in Almaty.
Dedicated to the 180th anniversary of the great thinker and poet, it features over
80 unique works of art created in various techniques, including painting,
graphics, and decorative and applied arts. Among the exhibits are portraits of
Abai, illustrations to his poems and verses, graphic interpretations of the
great Kazakh poet’s works, as well as pieces inspired by the rich cultural
heritage he wrote about. As the organizers note, the exhibition offers an
opportunity to connect with history, experience the depth of Kazakh culture, and
gain a new perspective on Abai’s great legacy.
«My work is created in a space theme. I depicted our great
Kazakh poet in a spacesuit, preserving his familiar image and facial expression.
No matter how rapidly time changes, through my work, I wanted to reflect the
richness of his heritage and the wisdom of the great thinker,» said a member of
Kazakhstan’s Union of Artists Tlek Chulenov.
The exhibition will also feature master classes showcasing
traditional painting and graphic techniques by Kazakh artists. Visitors will
have the opportunity to learn more about national crafts, including felt
processing, leatherworking, and the art of embroidery.
«The exhibition’s theme is based on Abai’s works, his ‘Words
of Edification’, and his image. Among the artworks on display, the graphic
pieces stand out the most. The intricacy of the technique and the uniqueness of
each stroke highlight the artist’s distinctive style,» noted Bolatbek Nurbatyrov,
Director of Alumni Association at the Abai Kazakh National Pedagogical
University.
