More than 1.5 trillion tenge in taxes, nearly
10,000 new jobs, and a 40% contribution to the country’s economy - these are
the results of the activities of small and medium-sized businesses that
received state support in 2024. A total of 336 billion tenge was allocated to entrepreneurs
through various support instruments of the Baiterek Holding. The lion’s share, amounting
to 254 billion tenge, consisted of preferential loans, which were provided to
2,700 entrepreneurial projects. As a result, Kazakh manufacturers produced
goods worth almost 25.5 trillion tenge last year. This was announced during the
opening of the 8th Ulttyq Ónim exhibition in Astana.
«Support for small and medium-sized businesses
will continue to grow. This year, we have set a course for the accelerated
development of the real sector of the economy. The government has announced an
open call for investment projects from SMEs in priority areas such as
information technology, logistics, tourism, food production, construction
materials, mechanical engineering, and the light and chemical industries. These
sectors will receive comprehensive support,» noted Kazakh Deputy Prime Minister
and Minister of National Economy Serik Zhumangarin.
More than 350 domestic manufacturers took part
in the large-scale Ulttyq Ónim exhibition. They showcased products across a
wide range of industries, from food, light, and chemical industries to
mechanical engineering, equipment manufacturing, and jewelry production. All
participants of the exhibition received financial and other support measures from
the Damu Fund.
«This is only a small part of what we have
supported overall. In 2024 alone, 29,000 subsidies were issued, 29,000 projects
totaling 1 trillion tenge. In total, we supported projects worth more than 1.7
trillion tenge, covering about 40,000 projects. For us, the highest priority
sector is the manufacturing industry, the production segment, because it has a multiplier
effect: it creates jobs, generates tax revenues, and overall contributes to
import substitution,» said Farkhat Sarsekeyev, Chairman of the Management Board
of the Damu Entrepreneurship Development Fund.
