An exhibition dedicated to Kazakh-Korean composer and musician Yakov Khan has opened in the South Korean city of Gwangju. A cultural center of Koreans from CIS countries played his music, as well as exhibited his photographs and archival documents. Yakov Khan was one of the founders of Kazakh jazz. He is popular not only in our country, but also abroad. For a long time he worked at the State National Academic Korean Theater of Music Comedy in Almaty. The composer passed away last year at the age of 77.
“Our museum presents a 160-year history of Koreans of the CIS. Materials about the famous Kazakh composer Yakov Khan will also be exhibited. From this exhibition, the people of Korea will be able to learn more about the life of their compatriots in Kazakhstan,” said Kim Byung Hak, Director of the Cultural Center of Koreans in CIS.
