A book by renowned Kazakh writer Sharbanu
Beisenova was presented in Turkish in Astana. Based on archaeological and
archival data, the literary work is dedicated to the famous women of the Great
Steppe. Thus, the first part of the publication tells about Suzge-Khanym, the
beloved wife of Khan Kuchum and daughter of Kazakh Khan Shygai, while the
second tells about the life of a noble female warrior found during excavations
of the medieval settlement of Bozok near the Kazakh capital. These two images,
two heroines whose stories are united in the book, personify the embodiment of
female wisdom, courage, devotion, and humanity. Beisenova, the winner of the
international literary award «Alash», emphasized her intent to spotlight the
vital role women have played in shaping the history of the Great Steppe.
«In the book, both heroines embody the
strongest and most genuine feminine qualities – the courage to fight for
happiness, and the resilience to face life’s challenges independently. The work
describes sadness, melancholy, and states of mind, which resonate with any
woman. It transcends national identity; in these images, I think, every reader
will find something relatable. The most interesting thing is that the Turkish
publishers themselves contacted me, requesting a copy of the books in Kazakh,
and then translated them,» shared Beisenova, who is also the Honored Figure of
Kazakhstan.
«When writing about historical figures – women
rulers known from the annals – in fiction, it is always important for the
writer to approach it precisely and spend a lot of time searching for archival
data. The author had to do painstaking and diligent work. And she coped with
this task, spending a lot of effort on studying archival documents, videos, and
other materials,» said Honored Figure of Kazakhstan Roza Mukanova.
