Optimization of the procedure for counting votes and strengthening the institution of public observers. These and other proposals for the modernization of the electoral process were discussed by the chairman of the Central Election Commission and representatives of the capital’s residents. A special group of the electoral committee is meeting with the townspeople. It plans to go around the entire Kazakhstan. According to Nurlan Abdirov, the opinion of the electorate, even from the most remote areas, will be taken into account when adjusting the electoral legislation. Earlier, the Head of State announced a number of changes that will affect the elections in the country. Kassym-Jomart Tokayev called on citizens to more actively demonstrate their civic position and fully engage in the processes of electoral reset.
“Going around the regions, we noticed not a very good trend. Young people are not interested in the elections, they do not want to vote, they say: “They will be elected without us anyway.” Meanwhile, the future of our country is in the hands of this category of citizens. It is necessary to change this attitude and reform the electoral culture,” said Nurlan Abdirov, Chairperson of the Central Election Committee.
