The second Central Asia-China summit, held recently in
Astana, was a key event on the regional diplomatic agenda. This format of
multilateral dialogue is broadening the horizons for cooperation. According to
analysts, beyond infrastructure projects, the parties are now focused on
developing partnerships in areas such as technology, energy, industry, and
space.
«This is no longer just economic cooperation - it is a step
toward strategic transformation. As summer begins, we are already seeing
technological collaboration between China and the Central Asian countries reach
a new level. China has become a key external player in the region’s digital
transformation - from building 5G networks and implementing smart city systems
to developing its BeiDou satellite navigation system, an alternative to GPS,» said
Zhadyra Assetkyzy, senior expert at the Asian Studies Department of the Kazakhstan
Institute for Strategic Studies under the President of the Republic of
Kazakhstan.
