Astana’s budget revenues have surpassed one trillion tenge
for the first time, thanks to increased tax revenues across all major
categories. According to the city’s mayor, Zhenis Kassymbek, the gross regional
product in the first half of the year grew by seven percent, amounting to
approximately 5.5 trillion tenge. Growth has been observed in the manufacturing
sector, driven by active development in industry and construction. Small and
medium-sized businesses are the main contributors, accounting for over 72
percent of Astana’s economy—the highest share in the country. The number of
SMEs in the capital has exceeded 247,000. Additionally, there has been a
significant increase in the volume of attracted investments.
«The volume of investments has exceeded 1.6 trillion tenge,
reflecting a 20.4 percent increase. Over 70 percent of this comes from private
sources. Construction activity in the capital has surpassed 870 billion tenge.
Over the past 11 months, 3.6 million square meters of housing have been
commissioned, representing a 6.4 percent increase compared to last year. By the
end of the year, this figure is expected to exceed four million square meters,»
Kassymbek said.
