Astana continues to assert itself as an
effective international platform for interfaith dialogue. Young religious
leaders from over 30 countries gathered in Kazakhstan’s capital for a groundbreaking
forum, marking the first meeting of spiritual mentors from the new generation.
Representing a variety of faiths – Islam, Christianity, Buddhism, Taoism,
Shintoism, and Hinduism – the participants explored ways to make joint
decisions to counter modern challenges for the benefit of humanity. The forum
also emphasized the importance of considering the ideas and initiatives of
young religious leaders in shaping a new international security system.
«In today’s world, with increasing conflicts
and tensions, spiritual diplomacy plays an important role as a bridge between
cultures and religions, as well as in uniting efforts to address global
challenges. The first Forum of Young Religious Leaders is part of this mission.
We are confident that it is you, young leaders, who can give new impetus to
interreligious dialogue, continuing and strengthening the traditions of peace,
tolerance, and mutual understanding,» said Maulen Ashimbayev, Senate chairman and
head of the Congress’ Secretariat.
«Today’s forum is a very important initiative of
Kazakhstan’s government. It is very important to have the participation of
young people into the topics, which are related to religion and the spiritual
traditions. My presentation will be about the values of Hinduism and how our
organization, how our institute is doing different activities to promote
interfaith dialogue,» noted Rudraksha Sakrikar, professor at Somaiya Vidyavihar
University in India.
