An ancient Otyrar civilization attracts many tourists. More than 400,000 tourists visited the homeland of the great thinker Abu Nasr Al-Farabi last year. Head of the Otyrar State Archaeological Museum-Reserve Zhangeldy Makashev announced this in the capital at the opening of the traveling exhibition “The Great Silk Road and the Medieval Civilization of the Otyrar Valley”. According to him, 169 exhibits of the old civilization are displayed there. Overall, the museum fund stores approximately 25,000 artefacts. There are plans to replenish the exhibition during visits to the regions of the country.
“This exhibition consists of two parts. The first part embodies Otyrar civilization of the 9th-12th centuries. The second tells about Otyrar after the Mongol invasion. There is a whole three-year program for the study of Otyrar until 2022. In August, we are planning trips to the Atyrau region, and in September, we are planning to visit the Regional Museum of Local Lore in West Kazakhstan,” said Zhangeldy Makashev, Acting Director, Otyrar State Archaeological Museum-Reserve.
